If i could stray a little further than the book i can recommend a excellent shooting DVD, The art of game shooting by shooting times & Holland &Holland, brilliant watch with plenty a variation on different game birds.

my choices would be:
running dog addiction
extreme lurcherwork
dig deep, throw well back all j darcy
world of the working terrier
badger digging with terriers both D harcombe
the fell terrier
diary of a hunter both DB plummer

also stormy nights and frosty mornings is okay but im not too keen on the gun dog and shooting bits

Hi Steve

surely you must be able to find a country book with lots of pics then you could maybe read it a bit quicker.

Other than the shooting times and sporting gun I would seriously recommend reading anything attributed to Wilbur Smith who simply has to be in the top 5 authors. I particularly like his book ‘The birds of prey’, a book that you simply cant put down.
Burnard Cornwell is another fantastic author who dramatises actual historic events especially during the Napoleonic wars; I love the ‘Sharp’ series.
