the dog and the fox was snapped using a fuji fine pix 9mp-cant remember exact model
the buzzard and squrril was taken with the panasonic fz20-5.1 mp
you can see the differnce in the quality/megapixels between the images
the fuji gave better quality photos but just has'nt the zoom of the fz20
the latest panasonic bridge camera, the fz50 has 10.1 mp and the same massive lens as the fz 20- so my next purchase in the way of cameras will probably be fz50-if i can find a camera shop to lend me one for a few days to try
the advantage of the panasonic is that the lens has 12x optical lens and 48x digital zoom in SLR terms that is equivilant too 450mm lens!!- the reason i like the pansonic bridge cameras over a proper digital SLR is that one lens will do many jobs whereas with the SLR you would probably need maybe 4 different lenses to do the same jobs- and the price of large SLR lenses would probably buy you a very decent secondhand 4x4 vehicle!
the thing is with digital cameras at the moment is that technology is developing very quickly i would think that maybe a few years time a 24mp camera wont be out of the budget raech of an ordinary photographer like my self!
so in conclusion if you are thinking of purchasing a camera go for the highest mp that your budget will allow then look at the lens capability an 8x,10x or maybe a 12x is what you really need to aim for wildlife shots- most digital lenses will multiply that figure by 3 or 4 in the digital zoom feature of the camera- having other features on the camera such as aperture priority, shutter priority, full manual capability - different flash settings etc does enable the user to take better photos other than just pointing and shooting the camera!
hope this helps anybody thinking of buying a new camera! |
