i take oz ferreting, not so much cos he going to put any rabbits in the bag but more for the exercise, most of the ferreting i do starts of with bushing first,,then if the dogs run a rabbit or rabbits to ground we then net up and come back within the next hour,i take oz as he runs round the bramble patch following the noise of the dogs, and can quite 0ften get some good exercise from bolting bunnys, and he does catch a good few as well, but its good exercise for him no matter what, the only draw back is when we are ferreting i got to make sure one of the lads have got a good hold of him, ferrets i never broke him into as i did not want him for ferreting,a mistake i will not make in the future with any other bull cross i have, but i have seen some good bull crosses used when ferreting, some heavy types as well,ok,so they not the ideal purpose bred dog for ferreting, but to say they are of no use when out ferreting is wrong,if they add to the bag if one slips the net,or if they catch one on the way from cover to a hole, then it a bonus, each to there own i say,i go out with a pest controller ,i only then take my 2 russels, out of my 5,reason being is thats all is needed, but for myselfits pure sport, and if all the dogs can get out of the kennel for the day so be it,all good exercise,we all know the ideal dogs for ferreting, but who these days can have a dog of each type to suit each type of sport they do,i for one cant and my kennels house up to 8 dogs comfortably,,i am lucky to have one mate who has a bedlington whippet, and ita hell of a tool, always in the right place at the right time, and flys through the cover when the russels are in bramble and start yapping,if it ever came to the stage where i would be doing alot of ferreting its a bedlington i would have, but for know its big old heavy oz my bull cross, and he is as heavy as they come, but ,he adds to the bag so is a use when out ferreting to me _________________ http://z10.invisionfree.com/huntersunited/index.php?ac
